Hopebotics Showcases Innovative Neurorehabilitation Achievements with CUHK President Prof. Dennis Lo at Shanghai InnoPort

Shanghai, May 27, 2025 — Pioneering smart rehabilitation technology company Hopebotics today joined Prof. Dennis Lo, President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and renowned biomedical expert, at Shanghai InnoPort to present its latest research achievements: the XoMuscle Intelligent Muscle Training System and HandTasker Robotic Hand. These two breakthrough technologies, centered on brain-computer interface (BCI), provide a comprehensive neurorehabilitation solution for stroke patients, from upper limbs to hands, drawing significant attention from academia and industry.

Cutting-Edge Academia-Industry Collaboration: Prof. Dennis Lo Leads the Introduction

As a key medical technology project incubated by CUHK, Hopebotics received a special endorsement from President Lo. In his speech, Prof. Lo emphasized, "Hopebotics has translated cutting-edge neuroscience research into clinically viable smart devices, with its BCI technology achieving internationally leading precision—a prime example of Hong Kong's academia-industry collaboration."

XoMuscle and HandTasker: Redefining Neurorehabilitation Standards

  1. XoMuscle Intelligent Training System

    • Features "brain-controlled electrical stimulation" technology, synchronously activating target muscle groups by interpreting EEG signals

    • Applicable for upper limb (shoulder/arm) and lower limb (thigh) functional rehabilitation, with clinical tests showing an 80% improvement in patients' independent mobility

    • Proprietary AI algorithm automatically adjusts electrical stimulation intensity to simulate natural muscle contraction patterns

  2. HandTasker Robotic Hand

    • Enables patients to control robotic fingers for grasping exercises through "mental imagery"

    • Equipped with a tactile feedback system to help rebuild motor-sensory neural pathways

"The essence of our technology is building a 'digital neural bridge,'" explained Hopebotics' Chief Scientist during the live demonstration. "When a patient attempts to imagine lifting their arm, XoMuscle can identify the intent and trigger muscle stimulation within 200 milliseconds—this immediacy is critical for neuroplasticity."
