湯啟宇教授
PROF. RAYMOND TONG

Co-Founder/Director

Chief scientist

Prof. Raymond Tong is one of the co-founders of Hopebotics Co., Ltd. and is currently a professor and head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Tong was among the top 2% of the most cited scientists in the world in 2020 and was also selected as the top 2% of the world's most influential scientists in 2021. His research interests include rehabilitation robotics, motion-based rehabilitation software, and functional electrical stimulation systems for post-stroke patients. Over the years, Professor Tong has made great progress in developing various rehabilitation equipment. His innovative work on the rehabilitation robot system "Hand of Hope" was the first invention in the history of Hong Kong to win the highest award in the 40-year history of the International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (2012).

 

Professor Tong also won the "Global Aging Influencer 2021" award held by Aging Asia in Singapore at the 9th Asia Pacific Geriatric Care Innovation Awards Ceremony in 2021, in recognition of his outstanding achievements in rehabilitation innovations, programs and services. It has promoted the improvement of the living standards of the elderly around the world. Professor Tong is the only Hong Kong winner of the "Global Aging Influencers 2021".

李崢教授
PROF. ZHENG LI

Chief Technical Advisor

Prof. Zheng Li is one of the co-founders of Hopebotics Co., Ltd., and is currently an associate professor of the Department of Surgery, Chinese University of Hong Kong. and associate professor of T Stone Robotics Institute, and adjunct associate professor of Monash University, Australia. Professor Li is a senior member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), a member of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) and RAS (Society of Robotics and Automation Engineering). Professor Li is an editor and reviewer for several international top robotics and automation journals and conferences.

 

Professor Li's current research mainly focuses on the field of innovative medical robots/equipment, including intelligent flexible surgical robots for minimally invasive surgery, flexible medical robots for gastrointestinal examination, flexible medical robots for rehabilitation, magnetic Positioning and guidance systems, semi-autonomous robots for stereotaxic brain puncture, etc. His research has been strongly supported by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council and the Innovation and Technology Fund. His research output includes 10+ patents/copyrights, 1 edited book, and 100+ peer-reviewed journal/conference/book chapters.

MR. XIANGQIAN SHI

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

David Shi, with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and a Master's from the National University of Singapore (NUS), is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Hopebotics Limited. His research covers wearable rehabilitation robots, high-performance artificial muscles, and stroke rehabilitation. He has published 10+ papers in top journals.

David Shi has received accolades like the CUHK Outstanding Student Award (2022) and Social Impact Award (2022) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and prizes in innovation competitions worldwide. He pioneered next-gen wearable robotic hands (HandTasker) and artificial muscle tech (XoMuscle), which earned the Gold Award and Special Jury Prize at the 2023 Geneva International Invention Exhibition and the Gold medal at the 2024 Silicone Valley International Inventions Festival.

Ms. Ma Liqin graduated from the Department of Biomedical Engineering of Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She has nearly 10 years of experience in stroke rehabilitation, clinical rehabilitation training, medical device management and sales.

李柏仲 (Eugene)
MR. LEE PAK CHUNG

Director of Engineering

Mr. Eugene Lee graduated from the Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering, McMaster University, Canada. Currently, he is mainly responsible for the R&D and manufacturing of Hopebotics rehabilitation products, as well as the application of medical device regulations.

MS. YANG Chengyu

​Sales Manager

Ms. Yang Chengyu graduated from the Biomedical Engineering program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and has experience in medical device sales and working with leading medical device and pharmaceutical companies in Mainland China.
